Integrating your favorite tools with AI Agents can dramatically enhance your workflow. With AgentX, you can connect a variety of Model Context Protocols (MCPs) such as Airtable, allowing your AI Agents to access, manage, and utilize data stored in your Airtable bases. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for adding an Airtable MCP to your AI Agent on AgentX.
Prerequisites
Before you get started, make sure you have the following:
An AgentX account. (Create an account if you do not have one yet – it’s free!)
An Airtable account (with access to the bases you want your agent to connect to)
(Optional) Admin rights for your Airtable workspace if you’re planning to use shared or Team bases.
Log in to your Airtable account and go to your Builder Hub. (see screenshot)
Click “Create token” or locate your existing Personal Access Tokens.
Give your token a name, such as AgentX
. [important] Choose the right Scopes and Access. Then click Create Token.
Now you have successfully created the token, you can copy it and we will use it later.
Navigate to AgentX workspace, choose any agent and select Edit Agent.
Choose Tools in the Edit Agent page and search for AirTable
tool in MCP Integrations.
Click Install to install AirTable MCP. You will see a pop up window ask you to fill AIRTABLE_API_KEY
, which is the token that we just created.
Now go ahead copy and paste the token we just created in AirTable to here. And then click Check MCP Server
. Once loading finished, you will a list of tools available for the AI agent to use. Optionally, you can disable any tool that you do not want the agent to use.
Click Save MCP Server
and now your AirTable MCP is successfully created and your AI agent will be able to use your AirTable. 🎉
We will ask the agent to do some stock news search and save the data in the AirTable base.
Create a new base in AirTable call it Stock track
, it looks like this:
Now, let’s ask the agent to do the job. Let’s try to ask the agent Find Tesla stock news and fill it into the table named stock tracker.
Done, the agent responded successfully and with thought process (Chain of thoughts) and list of actions it took. Let’s navigate to AirTable base that we just created.
The agent successfully created the record in the base. It works flawlessly! 🎉
Connecting Airtable to your AI Agent in AgentX unlocks powerful new ways to manage and automate your data workflows. With this integration, your AI can seamlessly search, update, and organize records across your Airtable bases—allowing you to spend more time on what truly matters.
